MINUTES <br />City Council <br />March 9, 1988 <br />Fahey pointed out that the School District has pr~oposed that the <br />pr•oper~ty be r•ezoned B-3 PUD to allow a facility like Globe Business <br />College or~ St. Ber•nar~d's High School to locate at the Capitol View <br />site. However~, the City is concer•ned that once that is done and <br />the pr~oper•ty sol d, the proper•ty coul d be r~esol d i n the futur~e and <br />the City would have no contr•ol over~ the occupancy of the building. <br />Fahey r~epor•ted that the City is inter~ested in wor•king with the School <br />Distr~ict. Fahey also suggested that if the School Distr~ict wished, <br />it should send a r~epr~esentative to the wor•kshop meeting tomor~r•ow <br />evening. <br />Fahey asked if anyone else fr•om the gener~al public was inter•ested <br />in ser•ving on the Recr•eation Committee. <br />Zoch indicated that she was inter•ested. <br />Wehr•le asked if the committee would have any conceptual dr•awings or• <br />cost figur•es to consider~ in the expansion to Little Canada School. <br />Bor•g r•epl i ed that he woul d di scuss thi s wi th the ar~chitect and r•epor~t <br />back. <br />Fahey suggested that the Recr~eation Committee meet pr~ior• to the <br />next Council meeting to for~mulate a r~ecommendation on the matter~s <br />discussed. This r•ecommendation could then be consider~ed by the <br />Council at their~ next Council meeting on Mar~ch 23. Fahey suggested <br />that the meeting begin at 6:30 P.M. <br />Wor~ner~ pointed out that r~egar~dless if the City par~ticipates in the <br />expansion of the Little Canada Elementar~y School, the City would <br />have an additional multi-pur•pose r•oom available for• scheduling of <br />r~ecr•eational activities. <br />Lor~r•ai ne Pel ton expr~essed concer~n wi th the School Di str•i ct' s pl ans <br />for• expanding the elementar,y school, while closing other• schools. <br />Worner explained the rational behind the decisions and assured <br />Pelton that the School Distr•ict will be able to meet classr•oom <br />needs under• the plan for•mulated for• at least the next 10 to 12 <br />year•s. <br />Pelton r•epor•ted that she has hear~d concer~ns of classroom cr•owding. <br />Fahey suggested that Pelton discuss her• concer•ns with Mr~. 41or~ner~ <br />following this meeting. <br />Fahey r•equested that Ken Hlehr•le again ser•ve as chair~man of the <br />Recr~eation Committee. <br />Fahey r~equested input fr•om the Committee pr•ior• to the next Council <br />meeting. <br />page -7- <br />
