MINUTES <br />City Council <br />May 25, 1988 <br />Insur•ance Mr~. Fahey intr~oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: <br />(Cont.) <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-5-228 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />CLERK TO PURCHASE INVERSE CONDEMNATION INSURANCE <br />COVERAGE IN THE AMOUNT OF $383.38 <br />The for~egoing r~esolution was duly seconded by Mr~. Blesener•. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener•, Scalze, Collova, LaValle. <br />Plays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 19, Page 231. <br />City Mr. Blesener reported that he has reviewed proposed City Center~ expansion <br />Center• plans with ever•yone except for~ the Senior• Citizen Coor•dinator• who has been <br />Expansion unavailable. Blesener• r~epor•ted that he will again tr•y to contact the Senior <br /> Citizen Coor•dinator. <br />Agenda alesener• repor•ted that he is suggesting that the size of the Council Chambers <br />Addition as pr•oposed be r•educed fr•om 1,800 squar~e feet to 1,500 squar•e feet. This <br /> is the minimum size Council Chamber•s recommended by the League of Minnesota <br /> Cities r•egar•dTess of the size of the City. <br /> Scalze r•epor•ted that the City of Falcon Heights r•ecently went thr•ough an <br /> addition and suggested that someone talk to that City to deter~mine how <br /> the addition was handled and what they would do over• again if they could. <br /> Scalze pointed out that the Falcon Neights addition includes a Council <br /> Chamber•s which doubles as a community center•. <br /> Blesener described the amount of seating for both Council purposes and <br /> community center pur•poses with both an 1,800 squar•e foot Council Chamber~s <br /> and a 1,500 squar•e foot Chamber•s. <br /> Council discussed the numbers that would be r•equir•ed for• the 55+ Club and <br /> noted that the Seni or• Ci ti zen Coor•di nator~ needs to offer~ i nput i n thi s ar•ea. <br />Fahey stated that he was not in favor• of sizing the Council Chamber~s just <br />to pr•ovide enough seating for• the 55+ Club for• their• monthly meetings. <br />Fahey noted that only 50% of the Club's member~s are r•esidents of Little <br />Canada. Fahey also suggested that with the park pur•chases the City is <br />negotiating at the moment, the City Center• expansion pr~oposal should be <br />tabled for• a few months. <br />Scalze r•epor•ted that she talked to someone fr•om Falcon Heights and was <br />infor•med that their• Council Chamber~s/community r•oom is also r~ented <br />out for• pr~ivate functions. Scalze descr•ibed the size of the Falcon Heights <br />Chamber•s as well as the var•ious featur•es of that r•oom. Scalze suggested <br />that the Councilmembers visit Falcon Heights and look at the room. Falcon <br />Heights is agr•eeable to discussing their~ facility with the Council. <br />Collova noted the beautiful Council Chambers the City pr•esently has. <br />Collova agr•eed that the Recr•eation Depar•tment needed additional space, <br />Page -24- <br />
