MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Sept. 14, 1988 <br />Announce- Fahe.y reported that in a challenge softball match between the City <br />ments Council and City employees, the City Council won with a score of 11 to 3. <br />However, in the second game, the City staff r•allied with a 3 to 2 victor•y. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 4 <br />Fahey r•epor~ted that on Saturday, September 17, from 11:00 A.M. until <br />2:30 P.M., the St. Paul Water• Department will be hosting an open house <br />at their• new distribution center on North Hamline. <br />Summer Julie Cardinal, Community Education Coordinator at Little Canada Elementar•y <br />Day Camp School, appeared before the Council to r•eport on the success of the Summer• <br />Progr~am Day Camp Program that was held at the school. Cardinal presented a video- <br />tape highlighting the program and also submitted a written repor~t which <br />Agenda she prepar~ed. In Cardinal's estimation, the program was very successful <br />Addition and reported that many positive comments were received from both the <br />childr•en participating in the program and their parents. <br />Council repor~ted that they have heard only positive comments about the <br />pr•ogram which was funded jointly by the North Subur!ban Youth Association <br />and the City. Scalze repor•ted that money has been budgeted in the 1989 <br />Budget for the progr~am next year with, hopefully, additional par•ticipation <br />from the North Suburban Youth Association in the cost. <br />Fahey thanked Car~dinal for• her~ r•eport. <br />Park Steve Morelan, Pr•esident, Little Canada Recr•eation Flssociation, appear•ed <br />Donation befor•e the Council and informed them of the Recr~eation Association's <br />Little support of the City's purchase of the Centerville Road property for• par~k <br />Canada land. Mor~elan r•eported that the Recreation Association encourages the <br />Recr~eation City to develop this par•k as quickly as possible to alleviate overcr•owding <br />Association at other City park facilities. <br />Agenda P9orelan repor~ted that about a year ago the Recreation Association infor•med <br />Acidition the Council that they would financially support the Center~ville Road park <br />pr~oject, and Morelan presented to the Cit,y a check in the amount of $200,000 <br />for• that purpose. <br />Fahey thanked the Recreation Association for their support and efforts. <br />Bwana Fahey opened the Public Hearing to consider the application submitted by <br />Archer~y John Larsen, Bwana Archer•y, for a conditional use permit to conduct a <br />CUP r~etail sporting goods sales oper•ation and establish an indoor archery <br />shooting range at 3015 Centerville Road. Fahey pointed out that the <br />Agenda Planning Commission has recommended approval of the concept. Also, the <br />Item No. 5 City Planner~ has submitted a letter recommending approval subject to <br />his r~ecommendations as contained in that repor•t. <br />Lar•sen repor~ted that he is willing to comply with the r•ecommendations of <br />the City Planner. <br />There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on <br />Page -2- <br />
