MINUTES
City Council
October• 12, 1988
Announce- The Mayor~ pointed out that with the exception of Gervais Mill Park, Spooner
ments Park is the fir~st major~ purchase of park land made by the City.
(Cont.)
The Mayor announced that the Little Canada Road bridge project is scheduled
for completion this week.
The Mayor also announced that on Tuesday, October 18th, at 7:30 P.M. ther~e
will be a'rleet the Candidates Nigh~'at the City Center sponsored by the
League of Women Voters.
The Mayor r•eported that the City currently has two vacancies on the Planning
Commission due to the r•esignation of Jon Pope and Tom Perlinger~. Later
in the meeting the Council will authorize the City Clerk to advertise these
positions. Anyone inter•ested in such a position should contact the City
Center.
Informational The Mayor opened the Infor•mational Public Hearing to consider possible
Pleeting development of Country Drive from the Water Works' right-of-way to South
Countr•y Dr. Owasso Blvd. and fr~om Countr•y Drive to Condit. The Mayor~ read the hearing
Relocation notice which was sent to pr•operty owners in the area.
Agenda Fahey pointed out that ther•e is no proposal for rezoning of any of the
Ttem No. 5 property involved, and existing 6-3 proper~ty would r•emain B-3 and existiny
R-3 property would r•emain R-3. Fahey reported that the pur~pose of the
meeting is to determine the adjacent property owners~feelings for• the
proposal to lower Country Dr•ive so that it is visible from the freeway.
Elaine Zoch, Condit Street, pointed out that the overhead showing existing
zoning shows the property on which her home is located as R-1 when, in
fact, it is zoned B-3.
Fahey r•eplied that this error would be corrected on the overhead.
Fahey reviewed the letter dated October• 6, 1988 from the City Engineer
outlining his cost estimate for the lowering of Country Drive. Fahey
pointed out that the Engineer estimates the project would cost $1,090,000.
Fahey also repor•ted that the City had proposed to upgrade Country Drive
with State-Aid monies. However, felt that before that was done the
pr~oposal for lowering of Country Drive should be studiec~. Fahey asked
the cost of upgrading Country Drive as previously planned by the City
which did not involve lowering the street.
The City Engineer r•eported that in April of 1987 a public hearing was
held to study the upgrading of Countr•y Drive. At that time, the Engineer
submitted a cost estimate of $420,000 for the upgr•ading of Country Drive.
This estimate did not include any impr~ovement to Bur~ke Lane, nor any
utility costs.
Page -2-
