Lachenmeyer• stated that he was in favor~ of lower•ing Country Drive as <br />long as existing trees scr•eening Burke Lane are left. <br />Ed Nadeau stated that he was in favor• of the lowering of Country Drive. <br />It was noted that the pr~operty owner between the Rudy and Nadeau property <br />was not present. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-10-423 - CLOSING THE PUBLIC <br />HEARING ON THE COUNTRY DRIVE RELOCATION MATTER <br />The foregoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener•. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener, Collova, LaValle, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 20, page 438. <br />Fahey pointed out that the Council has given the Economic Development <br />Committee the authority to proceed with a marketing study. Fahey <br />suggested that those property owners not pr~esent this evening who <br />own the proper~ty being consider~ed be contacted to deter~mine their• <br />position on the lowering of Countr•y Dr~ive. <br />Fahey also requested that Pelstring pr•ovide infor•mation r~egar~ding how <br />attractive the site will become to a developer• if the road is lowered. <br />Fahey stated that he was concerned about the cost of lower•ing Country <br />Drive ver•sus improving it in its present location. <br />Pelstring reported that he has already provided the City with this <br />information, but would update the Economic Development Committee at its <br />morning meeting tomorrow. <br />Blesener~ pointed out that tomor•row mor•ning ther~e will be a meeting of <br />the Economic Development Committee at 7:30 P.M. to consider whether or <br />not the City should proceed with a market analysis study of the Country <br />Drive area. <br />Recess At this point in the meeting, 8:45 P.M., Council took a short recess. <br />The meeting was reconvened at 8:52 P.M. <br />Fire Dept. Mr. Bob DeBace, representing the Little Canada Volunteer• Fir•e Depar•tment, <br />Benefits appear•ed before the Council and presented a request for incr•eased pension <br />benefits for firemen. DeBace also referred to the audit repor•t which the <br />Agenda City Auditor has prepared which details how the pension benefits would be <br />Item No. 6 funded. <br />Page -9- <br />
