MINUTES <br />City Council <br />October 26, 1988 <br />Sign located along the_freeway to desir•e a tall free-standing sign. <br />Ordinance <br />(Cont.) The Planner agreed, however~, pointed out that when developers pur•chase <br />a piece of proper~ty, they usually do so without first consulting a <br />City's Sign Or•dinance. Therefor~e, the Planner thought that sites ar•e <br />selected for r~easons other than the signage allowed in a particular• <br />area. <br />The Planner~ r•eported that he has had a developer express interest in a <br />site at the intersection of Centerville Road and Little Canada Road <br />and in his discussions, the issue of sipnage has yet to be addr•essed. <br />Fahey suggested that the City Planner~ try to encour•age the developer• <br />to consider• the pr•operty adjacent to the Water Works in his development, <br />so that there is not one single-family home left stranded between the <br />commer•cial development and the Water~ Wor~ks property. <br />Ryan The City Planner~ reported that he and the City Cler•k have been cataloging <br />Industrial the Ryan Industr•ial Park properties so that at license renewal time, if <br />Park site improvements are needed, they can be addressed. <br />Agei;c;a Scalze suggested that the City Planner follow up on the situation of <br />Item No. 9b the landscaping company using a mobilehome for its office. <br />The City Planner• r•eplied that he would. <br />Optical Fahey reported that the Fire Depar•tment has requested that the City <br />ar•tment's <br />Fir~e De <br />th <br />i <br />Emitter~ p <br />e <br />on on <br />pur•chase optical emitter systems for installat <br />System trucks. <br />Agenda The Council discussed this request and it was suggested that the <br />Item No. lla request be discussed with the Fire Chief to determine if the Fir•e <br /> Depar•tment has fund.s for this equipment. The Council pointed out <br /> that ~ t di d not budget for~ thi s expendi tur•e i n ei ther• the 1988 or <br /> 1989 budgets. <br /> Fahey suggested that the request be tabled for two weeks, and he would <br /> discuss it with the Fire Chief in the meantime. <br /> Fahey also suggested that the City Cler•k resear•ch the r•ecords to deter~mine <br /> what, if any, commitments the City made for this equipment. <br />Recycling The Council r•eviewed the repor•t of the Recycling Committee on the <br />public hear•ing which they held r•egarding organized tr~ash collection <br />Agenda within the City. Blesener noted that the City Council must hold a <br />Item No. 12a public hear•ing on this issue as well, with adoption of an or•dinance <br />to follow at least 90 days after the public hear•ing. <br />The City Attor•ney reported that the City would have to give notice to <br />Page -22- <br />
