D1INUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANAQA, MINNESOTA <br />November~ 7_, 1988 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice ther•eof a special meeting of the <br />Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 2nd <br />day of November, 1988 in the Council Chamber•s of the City Center• <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />P~ayor ~9ichael Fahey chair•ed the meeting and called it to or~der~ at <br />7:00 P.M. and the following members of the Council were present at <br />roll call: <br />MEP46ERS PRESENT: Playor• Mr•. Michael Fahey <br />Councilman Mr. Bill f3lesener <br />Councilman Mr. Rick Collova <br />Councilman Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Councilwoman Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Clerk P9r. Joseph Chlebeck <br />Consulting Engineer Mr. Donald Carley <br />Recording Secretary Mr•s. Kathy Glanzer <br />Fahey repor•ted that the pur•pose of tonight's special meeting is that <br />the School District has asked if the City would like to participate in <br />the addition of locker• r~ooms and shower•s to the addition being planned <br />for the Little Canada Elementary School. The School District is in the <br />pr~ocess of finalizing plans for• the addition, and befor•e that is done, <br />the School District would like to know the City's position on adding <br />shower~s and locker• rooms. <br />Fahe,y r~epor•ted that the School District is also planning to add additional <br />parking to the west side of the building, and the School District has <br />asked to finance these outside improvements through a City V~ond. The <br />School Distr~ict would r•epay the bond through the assessment process. <br />Fahey r•epor•ted that he has asked the City Engineer• to put together• some <br />cost estimates for• installing a culver•t in the ditch on the west side <br />of the school so that the parking ar•ea could be located closer~ to the <br />school. <br />Fahey r•epor~ted that if the Council decides to par•ticipate with the addition <br />of showers and locker• r•ooms to the school, a public hear~ing would be <br />necessary. <br />Fahey also pointed out that members of the committee which pr•eviously <br />studied the City's participation in the addition onto Little Canada <br />Elementar~y School are present this evening so that they might comment <br />as well. <br />It was noted that City staff failed to invite Ken tJehrle to the meeting, <br />however, Collova indicated that Wehrle's position would be in favor of <br />participating in the addition with showers and locker rooms. <br />Page -1- <br />
