MINUTES
City Council
November 9, 1988
Economic Fahey suggested that the City Cler•k follow up with the mar~keting firm to
Development determine if they have obtained the infor•mation they need.
Committee
(Cont.)
Facilitation Blesener• repor~ted that after reviewing the infor~mation on facilitation
Meeting meetings, it appears that this is exactly what the City Council wants to
do. Blesener felt that the meeting can be used to get into next year•'s
Agenda objectives as well as for long-r•ange planning.
Addition
Blesener suggested that Scalze and the City Clerk meet with Gover~nment
Tr•aining to see of a one-day pr•ogram can be designed for the City. Blesener•
did not feel the areas of team building needed to be addressed, but that
the Council needed to spend time on pr~iorities and goals.
Scalze agr•eed and also Felt a plan needed to be developed for• r~eaching
goals.
CORRECTION Fahey recommended that the fifth paragraph on page 10 of the November 9,
RES. NO 1988 Council meeting minutes be amended to read as follows: "Fahey felt
88-11-502 that any program should specifically focus on the goals and objectives
of the City and not on developing a mission statement or better personal
relationships between Councilpersons because no difficulties existed
between Councilmembers and developing a mission statement was less
productive use of everyone's time than goal setting.
Bl esener fel t tnat a tdCl i l GdLUY' dti Lfl@ niee ~ i ny wuu i u ue VCf ~' UCIIC I i ~ i a i
since the facilitator~ will know how to d.raw out people or• settle others
down.
The Council discussed the timing of such a meeting, feeling that it should
be held on a Saturday some time in January. The Council also felt that
the City's depar~tment heads should be invited to this m~eting.
LaValle stated that he would like to have a facilitator• that he did not
know.
Council discussed this and it was the concensus of the Council that they
would be comfortable with a facilitator~ even if he was known to individual
Councilmembers.
Scalze and Blesener indicated that they would wor•k on this matter as a
small committee and come back with a recommendation to the Council.
Little Fahey r•epor•ted that he and Co~incilmembers Collova and alesener• met
Canada with the School District the other morning on a revision to the
Flementar•y School District s plans for the addition onto the Little Canada Elementar•y
School School.
Addition
Scalze pointed out that this matter was discussed pr~eviously by the
Agenda Council at a Special Council meeting, and suggested that in the future
Addition Special Council meetings be telecast on Cable TV.
Page -10-
