MINUTES <br />City Council <br />December 14, 1988 <br />Plowing Blesener suggested that if add.itional equipment is needed to plow trails, <br />Of City the cost of this equipment should come fr•om the Par•k and Recr~eation Budget. <br />Tr•ai 1 s <br />(Cont.) Fahey pointed out that by plowing the trails, the City exposes itself to <br />additional liability. <br />The City Attorney suggested that the City check to see if it has cover•age <br />for this liability. <br />Fahey stated that he would like to know what other• eities do, or• if Little <br />Canada would be unique by plowing its tr~ails. Fahey also pointed out that <br />the trails were not constructed to road standards, and he was concerned. <br />that the trails would be damaged by plowing equipment driving on the tr•ails. <br />The City Cler~k suggested that he d.iscuss the matter with the City's Risk <br />Manager~. <br />Fahey sugaested. that the matter• be tabled for two weeks. <br />Facilitator Blesener• pr~esented the Council evith the proposal that he and P1r•s. Scalze <br />Session work up with Don Salver•da to develop for~ a facilitator session to be held <br />with the City Council, department heads and. Corr~iission chair~men. <br />4genda <br />Item No. 16 Council discussed the proposal, feeling it was a good one and a date of <br />Febr~uar~y 4, 1989 was set for the session. <br />Mr•. Blesener• introduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-12-540 - SCHEDULIN6 A 1989 <br />LEADERSHIP RETREAT FOR THE CITY OF LITTLF CANADA <br />COUNCIL, SUPERVISORY STAFF AND PLANNING AND PARK <br />COMMISSION CHAIRMEN OR THEIR REPRESENTATIVES, AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR APJD CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH MR. SALVERDA TO CONDUCT THIS MEETING <br />ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />The foregoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, Fahey, LaValle, Collova. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declar~ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appears in Resolution Book No. 20, Page 578. <br />County Blesener r•eviewed the letter fr•om the County which outlines their intention <br />Road B to upgrade County Road B near the intersection of Rice Street. The total <br />cost of the pr•oject is estimated at $400,000 with the County to pay $360,000 <br />Agenda and the benefiting cities to pay $40,000. The benefiting cities would be <br />Addition Roseville, Maplewood and little Canada. Blesener asked if the City could <br />assess its shar~e of the improvement. <br />Page -16- <br />
