However~, these
details have not been wor•ked out.
Fahey suggested that if the plans are acceptable, Sanders should begin
wor~k on the gr~ading plans, so that gr•ading could be completed by mid-June.
Fahe,y pointed out the desir~e to take advantage of the 1939 gr•owing
season and get gr•ass established on the ballfield.s.
Sander~s r•eported that grading plans can be pr•epared with a target of
mid-February to call for bids. Sander~s reported that the gr•ading
plans would need appr•oval of the Cit.y Engineer. Sander•s also r•epor~ted
that the City Engineer• has provided the dr~ainage calculations for the
site and there is plenty of capacity in the pond. The City will need
to make application for a ~rading permit from the l~!atershed District.
Fahey asked the depth of the ballfields.
Sanders replied that that issue has not been resolved, but pointed out
that the fields ar•e cir•awn at 280 feet with the capacity to expand to
300 feet.
Sanders pointed out the list of bid packages that was arr~ived at by
the Park Commission. Sanders also reported that the City has a LAWCON
gr•ant for• impr~ovement of the tennis courts and basketball cour•ts
and those improvements would need to be completeci within the next
couple of years.
Sanders also repor•ted that it will be necessary to hire an architect
to assist in the design of the recreation building. Ther•e may be
consultants needed to assist in designing the ir~r~igation s,ystem as
well as ponding area.
Sander~s also r•epor•ted that the Water•shed Distr•ict has indicated that
once gr~ading is completed, grass will have to be established as soon as
possible.
Page -15-
