Tom Stadler
Mr. Jim Zietlow
E'ire Elall Mr. Frank Graczyk reported to the Council the condition of
iJ~grading the Fire Elal1 located at ~d90 Little Canada Road. zn his
remarks, he mentioned ~hat the building was constructed
sometime in the early ~0's and that it was suitable at that
time.
Last year the Fire Department appointed a Committee to
review the upgrading of the Fire Hall, and one of their
recommendations at that time was to raise a beam in the
ceiling o~' the bay area, This was accomplished this year.
The Committee also recommended that a stress test be taken,
anc7 this test was done by Twin City Testing. A copy of that
~est was submitted to all those present and tha~ copy is
made part of ~he minutes. The report indicated that the
floor vaas not suitable for housing the heavier ~aeight trucks
in the building. The Department informed us that in order
to resolve this situation, the heavier trucks are being
housed at two locations; one at the City Garage and the
other one at the Frattalone Excava~ing building> The Fire
Department is paying about 5200 a month rent for housing at
Frattalone Excavating,
The repor't indicated that new slab would be required and
also additional reinforcement would be needed in the
basement of the building. Tkie reinforcement must consist of
new piers and beams which may make a portion of the Fir~
fia11 basement unusable. There would also be additional
costs for replacernent of heating ducts and electrical
conduits. The estimated cost just for this correction would
be about 543,200.
