r9INUT~S OF TFIF 6~ORKSHOP MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA~ MINNESOTA July 27, 1989 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the Council of the Ci~y of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 27th day of July, 19II9 in the Council Chambers of the City Hall located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City, Mayor Michael Fahey chaired the meeting and called it to order at 7e42 p.m. The following members of the Council were present: MEMBERS PRESENTo Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey Councilwoman Mrs. Beverly Scalze Councilman Mr. Bill Blesener Councilman b1r. Rick Collova P4EMBER ABSENT: Councilman Mr. Jim LaValle ALSO PRESENTa Facilities Chair Mr. Ray FIanson Fire Chief Mr. Frank Graczyk City Planner Mr. Steve Grittman Fire Hall t9r. Fahey indicated that Mr. Hanson would begin by giving the Council a brief summary of why the Facilities Committee came up with the recommendation on the Fire Hall that they did and Mr. Graczyk would then add any comments tha~ he may have on the matter. Additionally, Mr. Grittman had some exhibits he wanted to present. Due to a Eire call, some of the members of the Fire Department had to leave. Mr, Hanson gave some background information on the process the Facilities Committee took in order to reach their recommendation of the Centerville Road site, Mr. Hanson indicated that the Committee based their recommendation on the fact of the nearness in proximity to the residential areas of higher fire incidents, the number of calls the Fire Department responds to on Interstate 35E, the fact that the site ~oas more centrally located, and some of the consensus of input from the Fire Department at this time was that the Fire Hall is as £ar east as it should be. Mr. Hanson also reported that some of the lots in the Centerville Road site are already for sale. Page 1
