P~IINUTES <br />City Council <br />July 27v 19II9 <br />Fire Eiall Mr. Fahey indicated that the proper ~aay to proceecl would be <br />(cont.) to go with the referendum> Mr. Fahey stated that he would <br />like the City Council to authorize PRr. Grittman to work with <br />the Engineer and the Fire Chief to come up with a <br />recommendation at their next City Council meeting as to who <br />they should retain as an architect to work with the fire <br />Department on getting an estimate of building costs and a <br />preliminary design, D4re Pahey also stated that a resolution <br />would be needed at the next City Council meeting to <br />authorize the Attorney to proceed with acquiring the three <br />sites as recommended by the Facilities Committee (MOndor, <br />P9cNamara, and weinholzer properties), authorizing the hiring <br />of the architect, and a£ter the cost data is received, move <br />to have a re£erendum. <br />Mr. Fahey indicated that he would like to see the Pire F1a11 <br />laid out on the lot in a way that there would be room for a <br />future City Hall, <br />Mr. Boss asked hlr. Graczyk if he knew the projected amount <br />of possible donated fundinq. Mr. Graczyk indicated that he <br />did not knoo~. hir. Boss estimated that by the end of the <br />year 5100,000 would be donated £rom the Little Canada Fire <br />Department towards the land purchase. In talking with two <br />of the other charitable organizations, Mr. Boss felt that <br />the City could safely anticipate 575,000 £rom each of th~m <br />by the end of the year. <br />Mr. Fahey stated that there may be a November special <br />election this year on the County level. Mr. Fahey indicated <br />that the referendum could be on the ballot at this time. <br />The City Council is grateful to former Mayor Hanson £or <br />chairing the Pacilities Committee and to the members of the <br />Facilities Committee for the time that they spent on this <br />project and to the members of the Fire Department for <br />working with the Council on the project. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned <br />at £3a50 pem< <br />Itespect£ully su mitted, <br />~ <br />~ ~~ ~- <br />Kris VanSchoonhoven <br />Recording Secretary <br />Page A <br />
