MINUTES <br />City Council <br />August 9, 198~ <br />FIRE FiALL The City Planner reported that seven proposals were received <br />UPDATE from architectural firms for assistance in planning for the <br />new fire ha11. The City Planner reviewed his report dated <br />August 8, 1989 ou~lining the details of the City's request <br />for proposal and comparing the proposals received. <br />It was the recommendation of the City Planner that the <br />proposal of Boarman & Associates be accepted since it was <br />the Planner's feeling that this firm has the experience that <br />the City was looking Eor. The Planner pointed out that <br />Boarman & Associates ~aas not the low bidder, however, his <br />proposal included a needs analysis in the scope of services, <br />The Planner felt that without the needs analysis, the cost <br />of the Boarman proposal would be in a range comparable to <br />the two lower bidders. The Planner also pointed out that <br />sooner or later an architect would require a needs analysis, <br />and the Planner suggested that the City could proceed with <br />the needs analysis at this time. <br />Council discussed the proposals submitted and agreed with <br />the recommendation of the City Planner. Fahey pointed out <br />that the bid amounts ranged from a low of 53,000 to a high <br />bid of 511,500. The bid of ~oarman & Associates ~vas S4,7II5 <br />and included the needs analysis, which the two lo~eer bidders <br />did not. <br />Blesener stated that he would support Boarman & Associates <br />based on the information presented by the company and the <br />basic styles of their designs. <br />tdr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RSSOLUTION N0. II9-9-~hF- ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENAATION OF T[3F <br />CITY PLANNER AND ~CCEPTING THE BIA OE BOARMAN & ASSOCIAT~S <br />IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED 54,785 FOR SERVTCES AS OUTLINED <br />IN TFIEIR PROPOSAL <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener. <br />~yes (4) Fahey, Slesener, Collova, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Fahey reviewed the recommendation of the Facilities <br />Committee regarding a location for a new fire hall.
