r2rNUTgs <br />City Council <br />August 9, 19~39 <br />Fahey suggested that the City Engineer and Building <br />Inspector work with the individual residents and let them <br />know what needs to be done to get the ditch cleanecl out and <br />flowing, <br />Jody Leer, 3019 Thunder Say, reported tha~ she lives on the <br />opposite side of the street and tha~ the ditch area behind <br />her home is so wet that it cannot be mowed and maintained. <br />The City Engineer reported that he took profiles o~ the <br />ditch and it is close to grade, <br />Leer reported that property owners in the area have not <br />sodded or seeded there backyards because they ~~~ere waiting <br />for the City to pipe ~he di~.ch area. Leer reported that she <br />has neighbors that have let weeds grow in their baclcyards, <br />and asked what could be done> <br />Fahey pointed out that unless the weed are noxious, there is <br />nothing the City can do to force people to cut them. It was <br />also pointed out that the City never had any plans for <br />piping the ditch area. <br />Scalze reported that the City only has a drainage easement <br />over these ditch areas, and it is the property owners <br />responsibility to maintain these di~ches so they will drain, <br />Daubenspeck asked if she could fill in her ditch area ~aith <br />rock. <br />The City Engineer replied that the ditch should be sodded <br />and moH~ed in order to keep in functioning, and stated that <br />rock would not be acceptable. <br />Tracy George, 301H Thunder Bay Road, reported that her <br />neighbor on Ontario Road has PVC pipe running into the ditch <br />and there is soapy water flowing Erom the pipe into the <br />ditch. <br />George also reported that she v~as in£ormed that the City had <br />plans for piping the ditch. <br />Blesener replied that the City has never had plans for <br />piping the ditch, and the contractors in the area were aware <br />of this. <br />Pahey stated that the City Engineer and ~uilding Inspector <br />should look at the pipe f4s.
