PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR – UTILITIES JOB DESCRIPTION 3 • Finger and hand dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and phone, and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment • Upper body strength and flexibility is necessary to operate tripod for lowering/raising staff into and out of confined spaces and for shoveling dirt, asphalt, rock, or other materials as needed, lifting manhole covers, operating gate valves and hydrants, and any other physical task • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb for long periods of time to perform work in and inspect work sites, • Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 100 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment • Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, harnesses and related equipment • Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions and extreme weather MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or G.E.D. Ability to obtain Minnesota Class D Water Operator’s License within one year of hire. Ability to obtain Minnesota Class SD Sewer Operator’s License within one year of hire. Possess a valid MN Class B Commercial Driver’s License including tanker endorsement. Ability to navigate and interact with GIS mapping. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and general computer skills Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS College degree or A.A. degree in field related to public works. Public Works Certificate through MN APWA Possession of Class D or C Water Operator’s License. Possession of Class SC or SB Sewer Operator’s License. Erosion and Stormwater Manager Certifications Extensive experience with GPS data collection and Geographic Information Systems.
