PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR – UTILITIES JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />2 <br />10. Manage the City’s GIS in cooperation with the City Engineering firm. <br /> <br />11. Coordinate with the Streets and Parks Supervisors on scheduling of employees, work, and <br />equipment. <br /> <br />12. Cross train with Streets and Parks departments to gain sufficient knowledge to assist as necessary. <br /> <br />13. Participate in snow plowing operations coordinated by the Streets Supervisor. <br /> <br />14. Keep the Public Works Director informed of any important developments that he/she needs to <br />know to function effectively. <br /> <br />15. Is on-call on a rotating stand-by basis to respond to emergency maintenance situations on holidays <br />and weekends and to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal working <br />hours. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />• Two years experience as lead worker or supervisor in a related environment. <br />• Minimum of two years working in utility maintenance. <br />• Knowledge of sanitary sewer, water, and storm sewer maintenance. <br />• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). <br />• Minimum of two years working with GIS. <br />• Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position. <br />• Ability to work without supervision. <br />• Ability to conduct oneself in a pleasant, respectful, positive, and professional manner. <br />• Ability to follow orders, rules, and regulations. <br />• Ability to work effectively with general public and other City personnel. <br />• Ability to work in unfavorable and adverse weather conditions and environments including <br />confined spaces. <br /> <br />WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS <br />• Must be available for extended workdays, weekends, call back, shift schedule changes, on-call <br />duty, snow and ice control, and other emergencies. <br />• Must possess mobility to work in standard office setting and use standard office equipment, <br />including a computer, and to work in and around City utility systems and related facilities <br />• Strength, stamina, and mobility to perform light-to-medium physical work, to work in confined <br />spaces, around machines and machinery, to climb and descend ladders, to operate varied hand and <br />power tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various city and meeting sites <br />• Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen <br />• Color vision to read gauges and identify appurtenances <br />• Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio <br />• The job involves frequent walking/standing in operational areas to identify problems or hazards
