MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />5eptember 27, 1989 <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-9-487 - APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATION <br />OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT AS OUTLINED IN HIS <br />LETTER DATED SEPTEMBER 21, 1989 TO ALLOW AN EXEMPTION <br />TO ORGANIZED COLLECTION FOR RESIDENTS OF THE CITY THAT <br />AAVE INCINERATORS WAICH MEET STATE REGULATIONS SUBJECT <br />TO INSPECTION AND VERTIFICATION BY THE BUILDING <br />INSPECTOR AND SUBJECT TO THE RESIDENT MAKING <br />APPLICATION FOR THE EXEMPTION AT CITY HALL <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. <br />Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Fahey, LaValle, Collova, Blesener. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Blesener reported that the haulers have agreed to a <br />$6.00 per month charge for at-the-door pick-up for <br />disabled individuals. However, haulers are concerned <br />about their liability for damage to driveways, and are <br />requesting that residents getting at-the-door-service <br />sign a waiver for any damage garbage trucks might cause <br />to their driveways. Blesener reported that the Public <br />Works Superintendent is recommending that the City <br />subsidize this $6.00 charge for at-the-door service for <br />the disabled. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89-9-488 - APPROVING A SUBSIDY OF $6.00 <br />PER MONTH FOR AT-TxE-DOOR TRASH SERVICE FOR DISABLED <br />RESIDENTS WITHIN THE CITY SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION THAT <br />THERE IS NO OTHER RESIDENT AT THE SAME ADDRESS ABLE TO <br />PUT TRASH OUT AT THE CURB, AND SUBJECT TO THE HOMEOWNER <br />SIGNING A WAIVER INDICATING THAT THE TRASH HAULER HAS <br />NO LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR TO THE <br />DRIVEWAY DUE TO GARBAGE TRUCKS PROVIDING <br />AT-THE-DOOR-PICKUP <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. <br />Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, Fahey, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />PAGE 37 <br />
