MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />September 27, 1989 <br />Council discussed exemptions for residents of the City <br />who also own businesses within the City. It was the <br />concensus of the Council that these business operators <br />must be owner/operators or renter/operators of a <br />licensed business within the City. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-9-489 - APPROVING AN EXEMPTION TO <br />ORGANIZED COLLECTION FOR RESIDENTS OF THE CITY WHO CAN <br />DOCUMENT TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS <br />SUPERINTENDENT THAT THEY OWN AND OPERATE OR RENT AND <br />OPERATE A LICENSES BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY FOR WHICH <br />THEY ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR TRASH REMOVAL <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. <br />LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Blesener, Collova, Scalze. <br />Nays (o). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Council noted that some businesses may have multiple <br />owners, or be a corporation with various officers. It <br />was the concensus of the Council that the Public Works <br />Superintendent should address these cases on an <br />individual basis, and if it becomes a big problem, the <br />matter should be readdressed to the City Council. <br />It was the concensus of the Council to accept the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Superintendent for <br />exemption from trash collection for residents who will <br />be absent from the City for a minimum of 30 days. <br />The next recommendation discussed was for a City <br />subsidy of the cost of trash collection for residents <br />of the City meetinq Federal poverty standards. <br />Mr. Collova introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89-9-490 - APPROVING A CITY SUBSIDY OF <br />HALF THE COST OF MINIMUM TRASA COLLECTION FOR RESIDENTS <br />OF THE CITY WHO FILE AN AFFIDAVIT AND COPIES OF INCOME <br />TAX RECORDS SHOWING TxAT THEY ARE BELOW FEDERAL POVERTY <br />INCOME LEVELS <br />PAGE 38 <br />
