BUILDINGS & STORMWATER SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />3 <br />d. Raises and lowers gate valve boxes. Replaces broken valve boxes and cleans them as <br />needed. Exercises and operates gate valves as assigned. <br />e. Paints fire hydrants as directed. <br />f. Takes water samples using proper procedures. <br />g. Cleans storm catch basins and raises and lowers manholes to street grade. <br />h. Operates sewer jetter/vacuum combination unit for the purpose of flushing and cleaning <br />storm and sanitary sewers. <br />i. Repairs pumps, motors, and related equipment at the booster station and lift <br />stations. <br />j. Performs daily checks as assigned on all lift stations and booster station. <br /> k. Flushes dead end manholes twice a year. <br />l. Cleans and inspects manholes as needed in conformance with the established safety <br />standards. <br /> m. Televises sanitary and storm sewer mains and services. <br /> n. Locates city utilities for any locate requests. <br /> o. Performs inspections of private sewer and water connections to city mains. <br /> p. Other duties as assigned. <br />5. Parks Department <br />a. Performs duties as assigned in parks. <br />b. Performs grass mowing, boulevard mowing, grass trimming, tree trimming, weed <br />pulling, irrigation repair, and any other tasks as assigned. <br />6. Performs maintenance and repairs as needed. <br />a. May perform building maintenance and repair for any city facility such as <br />painting, carpentry, and minor plumbing. <br />b. Maintains, repairs, and operates all city equipment such as, but not limited to, <br />four-wheel drive pickups with plows, single-axle trucks, air compressors, <br />generators, mowers, tractors with attachments, skidsteer, and tools. <br />7. Performs inspections of city infrastructure and equipment to ensure compliance with city, state, <br />and federal safety standards and general attractiveness. <br />8. Is on-call on a rotating stand-by basis to respond to emergency maintenance situations on holidays <br />and weekends and to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal working <br />hours. Employee must respond in accordance with departmental call-out procedures. <br />9. Is polite, friendly, and exhibits good communication skills when dealing with the public, <br />contractors, fellow employees, etc. <br />10. Treats everyone with respect. Does not use rude or abusive language or behavior towards any <br />residents or fellow employees. <br />11. Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position. <br />12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned in relation to the operation of the city as a <br />whole.
