BUILDINGS & STORMWATER SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION 4 DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Construction Management Certificate • Experience with project coordination • Experience with MS4 Permitting • Experience with asset management software including Brightly Asset Essentials • Post high school education in sewer and/or water field. • Technical skills in carpentry, welding and/or fabrication. • Skills and experience in general construction, masonry or other related skills. • Possession of Class S-C Sanitary Sewer Operator’s License. • Possession of a Class D Water System Operator’s License. • CPR and/or First Aid Certification MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High School diploma or G.E.D. • Valid MN Class B Commercial Driver’s License with complete licensing including tanker endorsement. • Two or more years of experience in municipal public works operations or a related/similar field. • Strong mechanical ability and skills. • Demonstrated successful operation and routine repair of public works equipment. • Ability to communicate orally and in writing. • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. • Ability to take initiative and carry out tasks independently of others. • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team. • Ability to read plans such as utility maps, as-builts, street improvement plans, etc. • Ability to use a computer/tablet to navigate GIS mapping, work order and asset management software. • Ability to read and understand blueprints and other project specifications and materials. • Requires compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing program requirements. • Promotion from Maintenance Worker I requires supervisor’s recommendation. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Must be available for extended workdays, weekends, call back, shift schedule changes, on-call duty, snow and ice control, and other emergencies. • Must possess mobility to work in standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to work in and around city utility systems and related facilities • Strength, stamina, and mobility to perform light-to-medium physical work, to work in confined spaces, around machines and machinery, to climb and descend ladders, to operate varied hand and power tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various city and meeting sites • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
