COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PERMIT TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br />• Trains new employees on permitting software use and serves as a main point of contact for system <br />updates and modifications. <br />• Assists the Community Development Director with the creation of Planning Commission agendas, <br />zoning permits, and public notices. <br />• Coordinates and manages monthly public hearing notices for the Planning Commission and <br />ensures compliance with state statutes and city ordinances. <br />• Oversees the organization and maintenance of Planning Commission case files and City Council <br />meeting records related to development. <br />Reporting & Data Management <br />• Compiles and submits state and regional reports related to building permits. <br />• Coordinates with the county assessor’s office as needed for building activity reporting. <br />• Manages and maintains the City's file repository (Laserfiche), ensuring permits, licenses, and <br />records are properly scanned and organized. <br />Department & Special Projects Support <br />• Updates the Building and Community Development Department pages on the City's website. <br />• Supports the Community Development Director and other staff on major planning initiatives, <br />zoning updates, and comprehensive planning efforts. <br />• Assists with year-end reporting, refund processing, and other administrative functions as assigned. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public. Friendly, <br />courteous, helpful, professional, and efficient are the traits needed to be successful in this position. <br />Excellent customer service is our goal. <br /> <br />Typing/keyboarding and word processing skills, ability to operate a personal computer, ability to operate <br />a cash register, ten-key adding machine, copy/scanner machine and other office equipment. <br /> <br />Excellent word, grammar, and editing skills. <br /> <br />Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. <br /> <br />Ability to take general directions and complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner. <br /> <br />Ability to learn and retain information related to ongoing projects, routine questions, and the functions <br />of the Community Development Department. <br /> <br />Job requires considerable judgement and is typically performed under general or minimum supervision. <br /> <br />Regular and routine on-site attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
