2 <br /> <br /> <br />DATA COLLECTION: <br />Demographic data in this study comes from several sources: <br />• American Census Bureau <br />o ACS 5-Year Estimates (2023 data) <br />o 2000 and 2010 Decennial Censuses <br /> <br />Community-wide engagement and data collection occurred through several methods: <br />• City-wide Inclusion Survey <br />o The Community Inclusion Team worked diligently to develop an anonymous city-wide <br />inclusion survey published from September 25, 2024, through November 3, 2024 <br />o 71 responses were received, with approximately 1,115 pieces of data collected <br /> <br />• Individual Stakeholder Interviews <br />o Therefore, in addition to the external anonymous survey, individual stakeholder <br />interviews were scheduled with key community partners, residents, businesses, and <br />organizations <br />o 17 individual stakeholder interviews were conducted <br /> <br />• School Sessions <br />o City staff conducted six sessions with Little Canada Elementary fifth and sixth graders <br />in both the Dual Language Immersion Program and the Neighborhood School Program <br /> <br />OVERALL THEMES: <br />Across all engagement efforts, seven themes emerged: <br />1. Effective Communication: Importance of two-way and open communication <br />2. Access to Resources: Advertisement of available programs, and elimination of barriers <br />3. Representation: Community representation in government including languages utilized for <br />communication <br />4. Community Engagement: Opportunities for meaningful dialogue and authentic connection <br />5. Inclusive Events: Programming designed for all demographics <br />6. Accessibility: Ensuring physical, mental, and economic inclusion in government <br />7. Education & Awareness: Promoting, celebrating, and understanding diverse backgrounds and <br />community members <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council consider the data and findings presented in the City of Little <br />Canada Community Inclusion Report as part of the upcoming Strategic Planning Retreat. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• Attachment A: City of Little Canada Community Inclusion Report
