4

City of Little Canada Demographics
People’s experiences and perceptions of belonging within a community can be influenced in part by
aspects of their identity. While everyone has a unique set of circumstances that shape their life and
outcomes, people who share certain identities - such as gender, race, or age - may have similar
experiences or perceptions. Understanding the diversity in our community is important as we
examine whether this is a community where all feel welcomed and included.

Data sources for this section are based on the 2023 American Community Survey from the United
States Census Bureau or Decennial Census. The tables and graphs used to illustrate the city's
demographics by race contain the official terms for race groups as defined by the U.S. Office of
Management and Budget. We use these terms for consistency with the Census Bureau while
emphasizing the following: each group has considerable diversity. Many people prefer to be called
by specific cultural community names rather than the federal government’s broad labels.

Age
• 23.6% - 18 years and younger
• 76.4% - 18 years and over
• 6.8% - 75 years and older

Sex
• 49.86% Male
• 50.14% Female

Race
• 62.7% - White (Alone)
• 8.4% - Black or African American (Alone)
• 0.3% - American Indian and Alaska Native (Alone)
• 13.6% - Asian (Alone)
• 0.0% - Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islanders (Alone)
• 5.4% - Some other race (Alone)
• 9.4% - Two or more races

Hispanic or Latino origin (of any race)
• 11.9%

Languages spoken at home (population age 5 years and older)
• 73.8% Speak only English
• 26.2% Speak a language other than English

Limited English-Speaking Households
• 4.2% - Spanish
• 3.7% - Other Indo-European languages
• 7.5% - Asian and Pacific Island languages
• 5.5% - Other languages
