MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
October 11, 1989
After this review, the City Council discussed the
applicants, and came to a concensus on which
individuals they felt to be the top five. The Council
decided to interview all five of these applicants, with
interviews to be held the eveninq of Tuesday, October
24~ 1989.
The next area discussed was employment offer
considerations with Brimeyer submitting to the Council
a list of areas to be addressed.
Council felt that the salary range as previously
decided upon was adequate, and agreed with Brimeyer's
suggestion that six-month and twelve-month performance
reviews were necessary.
Council discussed the issue of mileage versus a
City-owned vehicle being offered as part of the
employment package, and it was the concensus of the
Council that mileage reimbursement would be offered.
Brimeyer suggested that some vacation and sick leave
benefit should be provided, and it was the concensus of
the Council that Brimeyer's suggestion of a two-week
vacation and 30-day bank of sick leave could be
included in an employment offer.
Brimeyer felt that the City's current insurance
benefits to employees were adequate for this position.
Council felt that the issues of moving allowance and
supplemental living expenses would be considered at the
time a job offer was made.
The next area discussed was severance pay, with
Brimeyer feeling strongly that severance pay was
necessary. Council discussed this area in detail and
concluded that severance pay along the following lines
could be offered: if the City terminates the City
Administrator's employment within the first two years
of employment, 90 days severance pay could be granted;
if employment is terminated within 3 years, 60
Page 2
