MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETIN6 <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />Navember 1, 1989 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the <br />Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the <br />1st day of November, 198g in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City, <br />Mayor Michael Fahey chaired the meeting and called it to order at <br />6:30 P.M. The following members of the Council were present at <br />roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT <br />Mayor <br />Councilwoman <br />Councilman <br />Councilman <br />Councilman <br />Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />Mr. Bill Blesener <br />Mr. Rick Collova <br />Mr. Jim LaValle <br />ALSO PRESENT <br />Recording Secretary <br />Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />Fire Hall Mr. Dave Kroos and Mr. Paul Mickelberg, Boarman & Associates, appeared <br />before the Council regarding their study of development of a new Fire <br />Hall within the City. Kroos gave the Council and members of the Fire <br />Department who were present background information on the firm of Boarman <br />& Associates, reporting that 46% of their total work is municipal work. <br />Kroos reported that when Boarman & Associates was hired to do a study <br />for a new fire hall, there was mention made that a City Hall complex <br />might be attached to the Fire Hall facility. <br />Kroos also discussed the contract that Boarman & Associates has submitted <br />to the City, indicating that if the City feels more comfortable with <br />eliminating the language pertaining to Phase II, that can be done. <br />Fahey pointed out that it was the recommendation of the City Attorney <br />that this language be omitted and that the contract only deal with <br />Phase I of the project. <br />Kroos reported that he would submit a revised contract to the City <br />Attorney for his review. <br />Kroos reported that he has met with members of the Fire Department to <br />analyze their needs, the result of which is a concept plan for a Fire <br />Hall building on the property on Little Canada Road and Centerville Road. <br />Blesener asked if this was the only site that Boarman & Associates has <br />studied. <br />Kroos replied that it was. <br />Mickelberg reported that his firm discussed the Fire Department's needs <br />including space and equipment needs, and a program sheet was developed ~ <br />for each need. Mickelberg reported that the initial concept plan put <br />together combining these needs, totaled 15,000 square feet. A revision <br />Page 1 <br />
