MINUTES
City Council
January 4, 1990
Morelan felt the Fire Department would be willing to
work with the City on that issue.
Blesener suggested that the architect firm up the
square footage of the building.
Blesener also suggested that the City Administrator
work with the City Auditor on the numbers and bring
back a recommendation to the Council at its next
meeting.
Collova asked if the project could be delayed for a
year.
Blesener pointed out that costs would increase by 5 to
10%.
The Administrator pointed out that if the project were
delayed it may have to go to a referendum, depending on
Legislative action.
Council asked the maximum term the bond could be issued
for.
The Administrator felt that a 20-year issue would
probably be the longest from a practical standpoint.
This would be verified with the fiscal agent.
The Administrator again asked about the amount of
donations that are expected for land acquisition costs.
Boss stated that $225,000 is the figure he remembers
being discussed.
LaValle stated that he believed that St. Joseph's
Society informed him that the three charitable
organizations were going to donate $300,000.
Fahey felt that the Administrator should plan on the
$225,000 figure.
The Administrator asked about including the cost of
equipment and furnishings in the bond issue.
Fahey suggested that these costs be excluded, pointing
out that these costs could be included in the 1991
budget. LaValle felt some costs for furnishings should
be included in the bond issue.
Fahey felt the City could be creative on financing the
costs of equipment and furnishings, trying to keep the
cost of the bond issue down.
Page 10
