MINUTES
City Council
January 4, 1990
Boss felt the City could plan on consistent help from
charities continuing above and beyond the land
acquisition costs.
Blesener suggested that the $80,000 be included in the
cost estimates at this time and a final decision could
be made at the bond hearing.
The Administrator pointed out that if issuance of the
bond is delayed, the City risks having to go to a
referendum because of Legislative changes that may come
in. He also stated that the numbers are preliminary at
this time, and, hopefully, they are adequate to ensure
enought funds for the project. Therefore, there is a
trade-off in allowing more time for this decision.
Blesener pointed out that Boarman & Associates have
done a number of fire halls, therefore, their numbers
should be close.
LaValle pointed out the need for soil tests on the
property.
Scalze asked if alternate bids would be a part of the
bidding package.
Kroos replied that there would be alternates. One
example of an alternate would be burnished block as the
base bid, with an alternate for brick.
Fahey suggested that since there would be a 1991
occupancy of the fire station, the equipment and
furniture portion of the buildinq budget be removed.
Fahey also suggested that at the January lOth Council
meeting, the Council discuss the architect for the fire
station project.
Graczyk asked about demolition of the existing
structures on the site.
Fahey pointed out that the City does not own the
property as yet, and suggested that this matter be
referred to the City Administrator.
Blesener suggested that the Building Inspector could
look at the structures to determine if it is feasible
to move them to another site.
Page 11
