MINUTES CITY COUNCIL April 11, 1990 Transit Committee. The Council recently appointed Karen Johnson as a representative. Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 90-4-177 - APPOINTING GENE DELONAIS AS ONE OF TAE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVES TO THE NORTHEAST CORRIDOR LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT COMMITTEE The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova. Ayes (4) LaValle, Collova, Scalze, Blesener. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. CIGARETTE The Council reviewed the City Administrator's LICENSE FEE recomendation to increase the retail cigarette license fee from $12.00 to $25.00. It was noted that the State established the fee at $12.00 in 1941. Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 90-4-178 - ACCEPTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S RECOMMENDATION TO RAISE THE CIGARETTE LICENSE FEE TO $25.00 PER YEAR EFFECTIVE AT NEXT RENEWAL AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN APPROPRIATE ORDINANCE AMENDMENT ESTABLISI3ING THE FEE AT THE $25.00 RATE AND PROVIDING THAT TfiE FEE CAN BE CHANGED FROM TIME TO TIME BY COUNCIL RESOLUTION The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova. Ayes (3) Blesener, Collova, Scalze. Nays (1) LaValle. Resolution declared adopted. LaValle indicated that he opposed an increased tax on small business. Blesener pointed out that the Legislature recently adopted additional regulations on vending machines, and suggested that the City Administrator obtain a copy of this legislation and notify the City's businesses that it will go into effect in August, along with notifying them of the increased cigarette license fee. WORKERS' COMP The Council discussed the City Administrator's corres- COVERAGE FOR pondence regarding workers' compensation coverage for COUNCIL Council Members.
