MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />April 11, 1990 <br />Transit Committee. The Council recently appointed <br />Karen Johnson as a representative. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-4-177 - APPOINTING GENE DELONAIS AS <br />ONE OF TAE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVES TO THE NORTHEAST <br />CORRIDOR LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT COMMITTEE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova. <br />Ayes (4) LaValle, Collova, Scalze, Blesener. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />CIGARETTE The Council reviewed the City Administrator's <br />LICENSE FEE recomendation to increase the retail cigarette license <br />fee from $12.00 to $25.00. It was noted that the State <br />established the fee at $12.00 in 1941. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-4-178 - ACCEPTING THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR'S RECOMMENDATION TO RAISE THE CIGARETTE <br />LICENSE FEE TO $25.00 PER YEAR EFFECTIVE AT NEXT <br />RENEWAL AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN <br />APPROPRIATE ORDINANCE AMENDMENT ESTABLISI3ING THE FEE AT <br />THE $25.00 RATE AND PROVIDING THAT TfiE FEE CAN BE <br />CHANGED FROM TIME TO TIME BY COUNCIL RESOLUTION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova. <br />Ayes (3) Blesener, Collova, Scalze. <br />Nays (1) LaValle. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />LaValle indicated that he opposed an increased tax on <br />small business. <br />Blesener pointed out that the Legislature recently <br />adopted additional regulations on vending machines, and <br />suggested that the City Administrator obtain a copy of <br />this legislation and notify the City's businesses that <br />it will go into effect in August, along with notifying <br />them of the increased cigarette license fee. <br />WORKERS' COMP The Council discussed the City Administrator's corres- <br />COVERAGE FOR pondence regarding workers' compensation coverage for <br />COUNCIL Council Members.
