MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
April 11, 1990
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (4) Collova, Blesener, Scalze, LaValle.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
ARBOR DAY Acting Mayor Scalze read a proclamation from Governor
Rudy Perpich proclaiming April 27, 1990 as Arbor Day in
the State of Minnesota and the month of May as Arbor
Month.
DONATION TO Dick Boss, Assistant Fire Chief and Gambling Manager
FIRE STATION for the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Department,
PROJECT presented the City Council with a check for $300,000
being donated to the City by the Fire Department, St.
Joseph's Society for Charity, and Servants of Mary
towards the successful completion of the new fire
station project. Boss felt that Little
Canada was a unique community, and did not have a lot
of the problems that other volunteer fire departments
are faced with. Boss reported that the Little Canada
Fire Department has been in existence since 1946 and
has always had fund-raisers to contribute towards its
costs of operation.
Boss reported that there are 36 members of the Fire
Department who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days per
week for very little monetary reimbursement.
Boss stated that he was happy to make the contribution
Page 2
