MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 25, 1990 <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-4-218 - TABLING ACTION ON THE <br />PROPOSED TEXT AMENDMENT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE OF <br />ACCESSORY BUILDING SIZE IN INDUSTRIAL AREAS UNTIL THE <br />MAY 23, 1990 COUNCIL MEETING AND REQUESTING THE FIRE <br />CHIEF AND BUILDING INSPECTOR TO LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND <br />DETERMINE ITS IMPACT ON CONFORMITY WITA APPENDIX E <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, Collova, LaValle, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />LANDSCAPE Council reviewed the proposed Landscape Ordinance <br />ORDINANCE submitted by the City Planner. <br />Blesener reported that he had concern with two areas of <br />the ordinance, the first being the requirement of <br />landscaping in the amount of 2% of project costs, and <br />the second being the requirement of a registered <br />landscape architect for projects over $500,000. <br />Blesener asked if the cost of the architect was <br />included in the 2% requirement. <br />The City Planner replied that architect costs were over <br />and above the 2%. <br />Fahey stated that he opposed the requirement that <br />landscape plans be signed by a registered landscape <br />architect, <br />The Planner replied that this was a common requirement <br />for large projects, and felt it would save the City <br />review problems. <br />Blesener questioned the requirement of one irrigated <br />landscape island per 15 parking spaces. Blesener <br />questioned whether this requirement was excessive. <br />The City Planner explained how this requirement would <br />effect the Slumberland development as an example, <br />pointing out that for 136 parking spaces, 9 islands <br />would be required. <br />Blesener stated that his last concern was the tree <br />replacement requirement.
