MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 25, 1990
Scalze suggested that the facade treatments for the new
Fire Station and City Center expansion projects be tied
into one another. Scalze also reported that Bill
Sanders is working with the architect on the issue of
landscaping of the Fire Station site to coordinate with
the Celebrate MN 1990 Program.
PIONEER PARK Scalze reported that 14 bids were received for the
RECREATION Pioneer Park Recreation building. Scalze reviewed the
BUILDING bids pointing out that there is a base bid for the
building itself as well as an alternate which covers
the cost of bringing the electrical and irrigation
systems into the building.
Scalze reviewed the letter from Kathy Glanzer outlining
discussion at the Park Commission's recent meeting
wherein the Steve Morelan of the Recreation Association
indicated that the Rec Association membership had
aqreed to donate $200,000 toward the cost of the
building. Morelan indicated that it will be necessary
to bring the issue back to the membership, since the
low bid exceeds $200,000. The next membership meeting
is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2nd.
Scalze reported that the Park Commission recommended
that the Council award the low bid of BE Construction
based on increased support from the Recreation
Association to cover the base bid, and the City's
picking up the cost of the bid alternate for electrical
and irrigation work.
The City Administrator reported that references for BE
Construction have been checked and are satisfactory.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 90-4-223 - ACCEPTING AND AWARDING THE
LOW BID OF BE CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $225,661
FOR PIONEER PARK RECREATION BUILDING CONTINGENT UPON
PAYMENT FROM THE RECREATION ASSOCIATION OF $216,666 FOR
THE BUILDING AND INDICATING THAT THE CITY WILL PICK UP
THE COST OF BID ALTERNATIVE #1 IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,995
TO BE PAID FROM PARK FUNDS FOR RELOCATION OF ELECTRICAL
AND IRRIGATION SYSTEM WITHIN THE BUILDING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Blesener, Fahey, Collova.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
Page 29
