MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JULY 25, 1990 The City Engineer estimated the cost at between $50 and $75 per front foot with curb and gutter making up about $15 per front foot of that cost. Scalze stated that she could see allowing a reduced-size cul-de-sac in this instance. Fahey stated that he was not in favor of the property division unless there was a street improvement. Collova agreed that there should be a paved mat to serve the lot, however, felt it could be something less than the City's standard road improvement. Collova did not feel curb and gutter nor a cul-de-sac were necessary. Fahey pointed out for a turn-around but suggested tha necessary, rather asked the minimum street. that a cul-de-sac would be necessary for snowplows and emergency vehicles, the easement may be all that is than paving the cul-de-sac. However, City policy has established a minimum width at 24 feet. The City Engineer replied that 24 feet is two lanes, 20 feet would be sufficient for two cars to pass, 18 feet would be bare minimum. Fahey asked if the rest of the area had curb and gutter. Tom Stewart reported that Savage Lane has curb and gutter, however, Rose Place does not. Stewart estimated the width of the Rose Place pavement at 18 feet. Fahey felt that if 20 feet of width as well as curb and gutter is consistent with the rest of the area, that is what should be required in this instance. Scalze agreed. Scalze pointed out that if Rose Place is redone, this is what the City will require. Mr. Stewart expressed concern with requiring improved road to serve the lot.
