MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 26, 1990
Jim Michaud, 485 Al1en Avenue, asked if there were any
east/west streets being proposed.
Scalze pointed out the connection of Costa Lane to
DeSOto. Scalze also pointed out that the City Planner
recommended additional east/west streets. However,
Scalze indicated that looking at the length of streets
in the area it did not appear to her that there was a
need for another east/west street. Scalze pointed out
that Vanderbie and Edgerton are long streets with no
cross streets between Allen Avenue and LaBore Road.
These two streets are longer than the proposed Costa
Lane. However, the Park Commission may want to require
some walkway easements.
Michaud stated that at the end of DeSoto there is a
fire hydrant about 150 feet south of Allen. Michaud
suggested this would be a good location for a cross
street.
Soalze pointed out the City's thoroughfare plan which
has been in place for many years.
Eloise Becker, 551 Allen Avenue, asked if the
preliminary plat would effect the property owners on
Allen Avenue between Vanderbie and Edgerton by causing
watermain improvement in that area.
Scalze replied that she was not sure. Scalze thought
the City might include as much area as possible in an
improvement hearing to determine if the majority of
property owners want water.
Becker reported that most of the property owners in the
area are opposed to watermain improvement. Becker
pointed out that she has property with alot of frontage
along Allen Avenue, although the property is not very
deep. An assessment based on front footage would be
substantial for her property.
Judy Michaud, 485 Allen Avenue, stated that at the last
Council meeting Scalze had suggested that there may be
the need for additional cross streets.
Scalze stated that she agreed with the cross street at
the end of Costa Lane over to DeSoto.
Michaud did not believe this to be a cross street.
Blesener pointed out that the connection to DeSoto
eliminates the need for a cul-de-sac.
