MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 26, 1990
consideration pedestrian or bicycle traffic. Quirin
felt that this kind of traffic should be considered,
pointing out the safety issues involved.
Kurkwald replied that this type of traffic is difficult
to measure. Kurkwald also reported that the County
encourages sidewalk development wherever possible, and
oities are the agencies that construct sidewalks.
Quirin pointed out the lack of walkways along Little
Canada Road and suggested that walkways should have
been included along with the Little Canada Road bridge
project.
Scalze pointed out that the City made the decision not
to improve walkways along Little Canada Road at that
time because of the fact that the City did not have the
necessary easements, and because the existing road
easements were already very close to the front doors of
the property owners along Little Canada Road.
Quirin felt there should be a striped walkway along the
side of the road that could be used by pedestrians.
Kurkwald pointed out that when the County resurfaces a
road, the city is contacted to see if there is interest
in adding shoulder area. If a shoulder is added to a
street, the City is required to share in 750 of the
cost of the shoulder. Kurkwald also pointed out that
if recycled materials are used in the project, the cost
of the project can be greatly reduced.
GAMBLING Council reviewed the application received from the Fire
LICENSE Department for renewal of their gambling license to
RENEWAL sell pull-tabs at Hoggsbreath. It was noted that the
FIRE DEPT. Fire Department's lease agreement with Hoggsbreath and
the Sheriff's report are still pending.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-9-436 - APPROVING RENEWAL OF THE
GAMBLING LICENSE FOR THE LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT
TO SELL PULL-TABS AT HOGGSBREATH PENDING RECEIPT OF
LEASE AGREEMENT WITH HOGGSBREATH AND SATISFACTORY
POLICE REPORT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Blesener.
Nays (O).
Resolution declared adopted.
Page 25
