Fahey also reported that within the
next couple of weeks members of various Boy and Girl
Scout troops and Little Canada Charity Plus will be
tying red ribbons on the City's street signs as part of
the Campaign.
Blesener reported that Monday evening there was a very
serious fire at the Grand Pre' Apartments in the City.
Blesener stated that the City should be very thankful
and proud of our Fire Department. Blesener also
thanked the fire departments of the surrounding cities
which assisted as well as the City's businesses which
contributed food and pop to the firemen. Blesener
stated that the entire community and north suburban
area came together during this disaster.
Fahey reported that the Fire Department has raised a
couple issues of concern. The first is that when
reconstruction of the Grand Pre' occurs, the City
require the building to be sprinklered. The second is
that access be provided to the interior courtyard of
the building. This lack of access was a factor that
hampered firefighting efforts.
The Administrator reported that the Building Inspector
is working with the State Fire Marshall and the other
agencies involved to address these concerns. There
will be a full report coming at a later date.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 90-10-456 - REQUIRING AS A CONDITION OF
RECONSTRUCTION OF TAE GRAND PRE' APARTMENT COMPLEX THAT
ADEQUATE VEHICULAR ACCESS BE PROVIDED TO THE INTERIOR
COURTYARD OF THE STRUCTURE AND THAT ACCESS TO MEET
APPROVAL OF THE FIRE CHIEF AND FIRE MARSHALL
Page 2
