MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 10, 1990
The City Administrator reviewed the bids received for
construction of a retaining wall on the new Fire
Station site. The low bid was received from Margolis
Bros. in the amount of $23,500.00.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-10-468 - ACCEPTING AND AWARDING THE
LOW BID OF MARGOLIS BROS. IN THE AMOUNT OF $23,500.00
FOR CON5TRUCTION OF A RETAINING WALL AT THE FIRE
STATION SITE SUBJECT TO FINAL REVIEW AND DETERMINATION
BY THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER THAT THE BID IS LOW AND
SUBJECT TO REMOVAL OF THE INDEMNIFICATION CLAUSE FOR
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FROM THE CONTRACT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Blesener, Fahey, Collova.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
HOCKEY RINK Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
CONSTRUCTION moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-10-469 - APPROVING PARTIAL PAYMENT OF
$9,000.00 FOR LABOR AND MATERIAL FOR AOCKEY RINK
CONSTRUCTION AS REQUESTED BY JESPERSEN HOME BUILDERS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, Collova, LaValle, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
UNLICENSED The City Attorney reported that paragraph j. of the
VEAICLE proposed unlicensed vehicle ordinance addressed junk
ORDINANCE cars, while paragraph k. addresses unlicensed vehicles.
LaValle felt strongly that adoption of the ordinance as
proposed would result in problems with deputies tagging
unlicensed vehicles on private property. LaValle
pointed out that there may be people on extended
vacations during the winter months whose cars are
unlicensed during that time.
Council discussed the matter and it was suggested that
the proposed ordinance allow the Sheriff's Department
to tag vehicles that have been unlicensed for a period
of six months or more. Council tabled the matter for
two weeks to give the City Attorney an opportunity to
make that ordinance revision.
Page 21
