MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OCTOBER 24, 1990 received additional donations to purchase the property. Fahey felt the estimates of maintenance expenses on the park are being overstated. Fahey felt the development of the lots as suggested would ruin a beautiful park. Scalze stated that she has reviewed previous minutes regarding Pioneer Park to determine the amount of Planning Commission participation in the process. The following is a result of her review: April 3, 1985 - Joint workshop of Planning Commission, City Council and property owners. Owners didn't want residential development, no strong objections to ballfields. May, 1985 - Planning Commission voted 6- 2 to investigate acquiring land for ballfields, subject to financial feasibility. May 22, 1985 - Public hearing on purchase of ballfields. Planning Commission members were present. No strong objections to purchase, and City Attorney was authorized to begin negotiations for the purchase. October 14, 1987 - Second Public Hearing was held since funding of purchase was more realistic. There was a show of hands - many in favor and none were opposed. Auditor indicated that purchase was financially feasible. City Attorney authorized to negotiate. April, 1988 - Survey indioated that 59% were in favor of purchase of Centerville Road property for park. July, 1988 - Property purchased. October 13, 1988 - Presented plan for the park to the Planning Commission. ADDITIONAL Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and ELECTION moved its adoption: JUDGE RESOLUTION NO. 90-10-502 - APPOINTING WALTER GORMAN AND BILL QUIRIN AS AN ELECTION JUDGES FOR THE NOVEMBER 6, 1990 GENERAL ELECTION BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF TAE CITY ADMINISTRATOR The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
