MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 12, 1990 <br />ordinance is necessary so that the City can meet its <br />abatement goals. If the City cannot meet these goals, <br />the County will mandate a recycling program for the <br />City. <br />Fahey suggested that the City put a notice on the Cable <br />TV channel notifying residents of the mandatory <br />recycling as well as the recycling charge that will be <br />collected by garbage haulers beginning January 1st. <br />Fahey also noted that a special mailing will be made to <br />City residents outlining the details of the recycling <br />charge. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following ordinance and <br />moved its adoption: <br />ORDINANCE NO. 340 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE GARBAGE, <br />RECYCLABLE MATERIALS AND RUBBISH STORAGE AND COLLECTION <br />ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR MANDATORY RECYCLING FOR <br />RESIDENTIAL DWELLING UNITS <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Fahey, Scalze, LaValle, Collova. <br />Nays (0). <br />Ordinance declared adopted. <br />OLD FIRE Scalze asked about the status of the agreement with <br />STATION the Fire Department for leasing the basement facilities <br />at the old Fire Station. Scalze asked the term of the <br />lease agreement and stated that she felt the City <br />Council should have the opportunity for period review <br />of that agreement and should not tie up the basement <br />facilities indefinitely. <br />The Council discussed this and it was suggested that <br />the City Administrator contact the Fire Chief to <br />determine what lenqth of lease the Fire Department is <br />interested in. Council asked the Administrator to <br />report back to the Council. <br />NORTH Council reviewed the proposed joint powers agreement <br />SUBURBAN between the City of Little Canada and North Suburban <br />YOUTH Youth Services. It was noted that North Suburban Youth <br />SERVICES Services 1991 funding request is $8,178.00. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-12-549 - APPROVING THE JOINT POWERS <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND NORTH SUBURBAN YOUTH <br />SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY <br />Page 17 <br />
