MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 9, 1991 <br />INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE CITY FOR 1991 AS OUTLINED IN <br />THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT DATED JANUARY 4, 1991 <br />DELETING THE UMBRELLA AND BOILER AND MACHINERY <br />COVERAGES AND REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF FIDELITY BOND TO <br />$50,000 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Hanson. <br />Nays (1) Collova. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Collova indicated that he opposed the resolution since <br />he believed that the amount of the Fidelity Bond could <br />be reduced further to $25,000. <br />Blesener requested that the City Administrator and <br />Insurance Agent keep an eye on Umbrella coverage claims <br />so that the Council might be notified if it would be <br />prudent for the City to obtain that coverage. It was <br />pointed out that the City has the option to bind <br />Umbrella coverage at any time during the year should it <br />determine the coverage necessary. <br />The City Administrator reported that under the League~s <br />insurance program the City receives return dividends <br />assuming good loss experience during a year. Dividends <br />the City received during 1990 were approximately <br />$11,000. <br />ECONOMIC Mayor Hanson reported that on January 24th he will be <br />DEVELOPMENT addressing the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce on <br />REPORT the state of the City report. <br />Hanson also reported that he has attended the January <br />Mayors~ Commission Against Drugs meeting, and plans to <br />continue involvement with that group. <br />PUBLIC Hanson stated that in the interests of public safety <br />SAFETY he would like to remind walkers and o <br />should travel facing traffic. ~ ggers that they <br />STORM DAMAGE Blesener reported that Precision Landscape & Tree has <br />submitted a bill for $43,250 to cover the cost of tree <br />removal due to the July storm. The City originally had <br />an agreement with Precision Landscape & Tree to remove <br />the storm damage at a cost of $15,000. However, once <br />the removal began it was found that there was much more <br />storm debris than originally anticipated. Staff has <br />met with Precision and has negotiated a settlement of <br />$40,000. Blesener recommended approval of the <br />settlement. <br />Page 12 <br />
