MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 9, 1991 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Hanson, Scalze, Collova. <br />Nays (0), <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />GAMBLING Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />LICENSE - moved its adoption: <br />ST. JOHN'S <br />CHURCH RESOLUTION N0. 91-1-3 <br />EXEMPTION FROM LAWFUL GAMBLINGILICENSEASUBMITTEDNBYOST. <br />JOHN'S MEN'S CLUB FOR THEIR ANNUAL SNOW GO DINNER TO BE <br />HELD SUNDAY FEBRUARY 3, 1991 AT THE VENETIAN INN <br />PROVIDED THAT THERE IS NO SALE OF PULL-TABS BY THE <br />MEN'S CLUB AT THIS EVENT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, Hanson, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />LEGAL The City Administrator reviewed the <br />NEWSPAPER from the North Suburban Press and therLpllieSSuburband <br />Newspapers for designation as the City~s legal <br />newspaper for 1991. The Administrator pointed out that <br />in the areas of publication of minutes and floor <br />agendas, the Lillie Suburban's proposal represents a <br />savings of approximately $2,700 over the proposal <br />submitted by the North Suburban Press. The <br />Administrator also pointed out that Lillie Suburban <br />Newspapers have later deadlines for submissions than <br />the North Suburban Press, although the North Suburban <br />Press has been most accommodating in accepting <br />submissions after deadlines. <br />Jeff Enright, Circulation Manager at Lillie Suburban <br />Newspapers, reported that there has been an independent <br />audit done of their newspaper which showed market <br />penetration at 96% and readership at 92%, Enright <br />stated that in the past the Lillie Suburban Newspapers <br />has had some difficulties in circulation in some of the <br />areas in Little Canada, however, has responded to those <br />concerns and now has 100% coverage of the City. <br />Enright reported that their staff is willing to work <br />together with the City to serve its needs. Enright <br />pointed out that the City~s deadline for submissions <br />would be Monday mornings. <br />Blesener asked the difference in the 6 point versus 7 <br />point type. <br />Page 3 <br />
