MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MAY 8, 1991 ANNOUNCEMENTS Mayor Hanson acknowledged and thanked St. Joseph's Society for Charity for their donations toward the purchase of furniture and equipment for the City Center employee lounge, towards the purchase of blinds for the City Center, and for the purchase of a bronze plaque for the new Little Canada Fire Station. PETITION FOR The Mayor noted the petition received from Steven and PUBLIC Susan Kush for improvement of the extension of LeeWard IMPROVEMENT Way adjacent to Tracts B and C of the Kush property. LEEWARD WAY The Mayor noted that City staff has determined that the petition is adequate. Mr. Steve Kush reported that the property owners to the south of him are opposed to the street being extended adjacent to their property. Therefore, the petition submitted effects his property alone. Kush reported that currently Leeward Way is improved up to his property, and he is requesting that it be extended to south adjacent to his property and end in a temporary cul-de-sac. Mr. LaValle introduced the followinq resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 91-5-160 - DECLARING THE ADEQUACY OF THE KUSH PETITION FOR EXTENSION OF LEEWARD WAY, AND ORDERING PREPARATION OF A FEASIBILITY REPORT SUBJECT TO THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPROPRIATE DEPOSIT BY MR. AND MRS. KUSH TO COVER COSTS The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Hanson. Ayes (4) LaValle, Hanson, Collova, Scalze. Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted. DIANNA LANE Council reviewed the correspondence in the agenda SPEED STUDY relating to the request of Dianna Lane property owners for a reduction in speed limit on their street. Staff noted that speed limits on residential streets are regulated by 5tate Statute, however, the Council can petition the Department of Transportation to do a speed study to determine the appropriate speed limit for the area.
