MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 11, 1991
SAXON LANES
LIQUOR
LICENSE
RENEWAL
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 91-6-197 - APPROVING A FILL PERMIT FOR
WAGNER HOMES FOR PROPERTY ON SAVAGE LANE SUBJECT TO
APPROVAL OF THE CITY ENGINEER, BUILDING INSPECTOR AND
ANY TERMS OR CONDITIONS IMPOSED BY THE DNR, AS WELL AS
SUBJECT TO THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT DETERMINING
THAT ROAD CONDITIONS ARE DRY ENOUGH TO CARRY THE WEIGHT
OF TRUCKS HAULING THE FILL
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Hanson.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
Council reviewed the report of the City Administrator
dated June 6th summarizing a meeting between City
staff, the Sheriff's Department and representatives of
the Saxon Lanes/Lounge regarding the number of
incidents at the Saxon requiring the attention of the
Sheriff's Department. The report sets forth
requirements that the Saxon must meet as a condition of
their liquor license renewal, in an attempt to reduce
these incidents.
A representative of Saxon Lanes reported that this past
winter the Saxon hired an outside security force to
patrol the parking lot. After a few months the Saxon
felt their own people could handle the outside security
work, but then found they could not. Council was asked
if it would be acceptable for the Saxon to use their
own people for outside security provided that they are
better trained. The Saxon feels that their own
employees would be more responsible to the Saxon. The
Saxon will hire an independent security service to
train the Saxon employees.
Reqarding the issue of the 24-hour operation at the
Saxon, the Council was informed that the Saxon has
never used this, and has no plans to do so at this
time.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 91-6-198 - APPROVING THE LIQUOR LICENSE
RENEWAL FOR TAE SAXON LANES/LOUNGE FOR THE LICENSE
PERIOD JULY 1, 1991 TxROUGH JUNE 30, 1992 SUBJECT TO
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS OUTLINED IN THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT DATED JUNE 6, 1991 WITH INCLUDES
Page 18
