MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 11, 1991 <br />TAE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, <br />RELATING TO THE LICENSING OF PAWN SHOPS <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4) LaValle, Blesener, Collova, Hanson. <br />Nays (1) Scalze. <br />Ordinance declared adopted. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 91-6-200 - PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION <br />OF THE TITLE AND SLJMMARY OF AN ORDINANCE ADDING CAAPTER <br />818 TO THE LITTLE CANADA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE <br />LICENSING OF PAWN SHOPS WITHIN TAE CITY OF LITTLE <br />CANADA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4) LaValle, Blesener, Hanson, Collova. <br />Nays (1) Scalze. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />SALES TAX The City Administrator reviewed his report dated June <br />RESOLUTION 7, 1991 regarding the County Board's request that <br />cities adopt a resolution either supporting or not <br />supporting the optional sales tax. The Administrator <br />reported that a percentage of the optional sales tax <br />will be put into a local government aid pool. <br />Distribution of that pool has not been finalized, <br />however, the Legislature has indicated that those <br />cities and counties not supporting the optional sales <br />tax will not receive local government aids. These <br />cities and counties will then be allowed to make up <br />this loss through additional tax levies. The <br />Administrator reported that if the City is to be <br />financially prudent, it has no choice but to adopt the <br />optional sales tax. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-6-201 - ADOPTING THE DRAFT RESOLUTION <br />IN SUPPORT OF THE ENACTMENT OF THE 1/2% LOCAL SALES TAX <br />BY THE RAMSEY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WITH THE <br />ADDITION OF A PARAGRAPH TO THAT RESOLUTION: <br />"WHEREAS, DUE TO THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT IMPOSING TAE <br />LOCAL OPTIONAL SALES TAX, REFERRING TO THIS AS A LOCAL <br />OPTION IS A JOKE, AND" <br />Page 21 <br />
