MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 28, 1991 <br />Collova announced that the Fire Department will host an <br />Open House for the general public at the new fire <br />station on October 6, 1991 from 11 A.M. until 5 P.M. <br />VARIANCE & The Mayor opened the public hearing on the request of <br />CUP - 34 Gloria Favis for a Conditional Use Permit to allow the <br />LITTLE improvement of a non-conforming single-family structure <br />CANADA ROAD to bring the structure up to the minimum standards, and <br />GLORIA a Variance to the Code to allow improvements to the <br />FAVIS property in excess of 50% of the fair market value of <br />the non-conforming structure located at 34 Little <br />Canada Road. <br />Mr. Jim McBride, McBride Construction, appeared before <br />the Council representing Gloria Favis and Jim Marshall <br />in their application. McBride reported that the <br />Planning Commission has reviewed the request and <br />recommended approval subject to improvement of <br />appearance of the outside of the structure, as well as <br />submission of plans showing these improvements, and <br />approval of the Building Inspector. McBride reported <br />that new plans have been submitted to and approved by <br />the Building Inspector. <br />The Mayor noted that the Planning Commission has not <br />seen these revised plans, and asked the consensus of <br />the Council for sending the matter back to the Planning <br />Commission. <br />Blesener agreed in essence, but felt the issue of <br />setbacks needed to be resolved. Blesener pointed out <br />Steve Garske's concern at the Planning Commission with <br />the potential for widening Little Canada Road since <br />that road is scheduled for upgrading within the next <br />few years. <br />The City Planner stated that his concern is that it has <br />never been documented to the City's Building Inspector <br />that the funds available for the project will be <br />adequate to make the building habitable. This concern <br />was expressed in the planning report as well as at the <br />Planning Commission meeting. <br />McBride presented the plan that was submitted to the <br />Planning Commission, which he indicated was approved by <br />Page 2 <br />
