MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 23, 1991 <br />ANNOUNCE- Hanson r eported that Northwest Youth and Family <br />MENTS Services would like a volunteer from the City Council <br /> to serve as liaison from the City. Most other cities <br /> do have a representative on Northwest's Board. <br />Blesener stated that he would discuss the matter with <br />the City Administrator, and if the position is not too <br />time-consuming, he would be willing to serve. <br />On behalf of the City, Mayor Aanson wished Mama Vitale <br />a belated 82nd birthday. Hanson pointed out that the <br />Vitale family started a vegetable-stand business in the <br />City in 1928, and in 1932 that business became the <br />Venetian Inn. <br />On behalf of the City, Council Member Blesener <br />congratulated Planning Commissioner Bob Pedersen and <br />his wife on the birth of their son. <br />PUBLIC The Mayor opened the public hearing to consider the <br />HEARING request for text amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to <br />TEXT allow the continued use of property at 2884 Centerville <br />AMENDMENT Road for automobile repair as was allowed prior to the <br />2884 rezoning to I-P District in 1985. It was noted that <br />CENTERVILLE the Planning Commission recommended denial of the text <br />ROAD amendment, and suggested that the auto repair business <br /> at 2884 Centerville Road be given six months to <br /> relocate. <br /> Duane Meron, property owner, reported that due to the <br /> economy and property taxes, it is necessary to rent out <br /> the extra bay in his building. Meron reported that <br /> when he purchased the property, there was an auto <br /> repair business in a portion of the building. Meron <br /> stated that he was not aware of the zoning change that <br /> prohibited auto repair use, and was not notified of the <br /> public hearing on the rezoning. Meron reported that he <br /> has had his business at 2884 Centerville Road since <br /> January of 1985. <br />Scalze pointed out that the City has several public <br />hearings on the rezoning issue, and had also put a <br />six-month development moratorium on the area.
