MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 12, 1991
RECESS
that the budget includes a proposal to increase
renumerations to $12 per fire drill for firemen.
Currently, firemen received $10 per drill. The budget
also proposes firemen be paid $7.00 per fire call. For
1990 firemen received $4.36 per call. According to a
survey done by the City of Roseville, $7 per fire call
is the Metro average.
The Chief noted accounting costs were budgeted at
$5,500. In discussion of this item it was mentioned
that these costs cover the preparation of reports due
to receipt of charitable gambling funds by the Fire
Department, as well as the Fire Relief Association
Audit. Council indicated that costs due to charitable
gambling should come from the Department's charitable
gambling funds, and Relief Association audit should be
paid by the Relief Association.
Blesener asked the total spent on salaries by the Fire
Department.
The Chief replied that $11,340 covers salaries, which
is increased by $5,940 over the 1991 budget.
Dick Boss replied that there is a total of $28,000 per
year in salaries for the 36-man department.
The
This
Chief pointed out
item is to cover unexpected expe
the line item for contingency.
nses during the
tems during 1991
excavation
Street, loss of
the fire at the
jeep.
year. Boss felt the capital
improvements line item was very important, pointing out
that Fire Department equipment gets a lot of rough
usage, and equipment must be kept up to mandated
industry and OSHA standards.
At this point in the meeting, 9:06 P.M., the Council
took a short recess. The meeting reconvened at 9:20
P.M.
Page 5
