MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />DECEMBER 17, 1991 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 17th day of December, 1991 at <br />the Little Canada Fire Station located at 325 Little <br />Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Raymond Hanson chaired the meeting and called it <br />to order at 7:00 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Mr. Raymond Hanson <br />Mr. Bill Blesener <br />Mr. Rick Collova <br />Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />City Admin. <br />Fire Chief <br />Assistant Chief <br />2nd Asst. Chief <br />Fire Dept. <br />Recording Sec. <br />Mr. Joel Aanson <br />Mr. Frank Graczyk <br />Mr. Dick Boss <br />Mr. Jim Morelan <br />Members-At-Large <br />Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />Frank Graczyk, Fire Chief, reported that the Fire <br />Department has met in workshop sessions with the City <br />Council to discuss the Fire Department's 1992 budget <br />requests. Graczyk reported that he would like to take <br />this opportunity to make some rebuttals to statements <br />which were made at the last budget workshop. <br />With regard to the funds budgeted for Fire Department <br />Special Activities, the Chief reported that the <br />functions funded under Special Activities are to repay <br />wives and families for the inconvenience, support, etc. <br />which they provide to the fire fighters. The Chief <br />reported that Special Activities include an annual <br />banquet for 20-year members and retirees, as well as a <br />family picnic each year. The Chief went on to explain <br />that it is very important for the spouse of a fire <br />fighter to support the fire fighter's commitment to the <br />Fire Department. Without this support, it is found <br />that a fire fighter's membership usually does not work <br />out. The Chief also went on to explain some of the <br />inconveniences that families of fire fighters <br />experience, including calls in the middle of the <br />Page 1 <br />
