MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 10, 1992
LaValle suggested that secretarial time for the thesis
work not be taken from the education allowance, but
normal payroll allocations.
The City Administrator asked about vacation accrual,
notinq that when he was hired he started with 80 hours
of vacation. The Administrator reported that the
City's personnel policy allows for the carrying over of
10 days of vacation per calendar year, and under that
policy he has lost 5 days of vacation. The
Administrator reported that this has also happened with
other City employees.
Blesener stated that the policy was intended to
encourage employees to take their vacation, not to
cause employees to lose vacation, and it was the
consensus of the Council that these "lost" vacation
days should be recovered.
The City Administrator also noted that his contract
calls for a long-term disability plan in the same
amount as provided to other City employees. The
Administrator noted that there is no long-term
disability plan in place for City employees.
Council suggested that the City Administrator obtain
quotations for this coverage, and present it at the
budget workshop meeting. It was also suggested that
the Administrator determine what other cities provide
in this area.
Blesener reported that as an overall rating he felt the
Administrator exceeded expectations. LaValle agreed
and felt that the City had been fortunate in its
selection of the City Administrator. LaValle felt that
the City Administrator has achieved a cost savings to
the citizens of Little Canada, and was a real benefit
to the entire City.
Scalze agreed that the City Administrator has done a
good job for the City, and noted that the staff works
well together. Scalze also thanked the Administrator
for the assistance that he has provided to her.
The Administrator stated that it was a pleasure working
for Little Canada, and noted the good working
relationship that the Mayor and City Council have.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned
Attest:
ruyc v
