MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 24, 1992
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Hanson.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
CODE Hanson reported that representatives of the City
ENFORCEMENT Council, City staff, the Suburban Chamber of Commerce,
and the Ryan Industrial Park Businessmen's Association
met recently. The issue of code enforcement was
discussed, and as a result of that discussion was that
City staff should be directed to perform increased code
enforcement not only in business areas but also
residential areas. Hanson noted that there are areas
where piles of refuse and rubbish are growing, and
residents and business owners can expect to see
increase code enforcement to address these situations.
Scalze reported that the Ryan Businessmen's Association
have surveyed the businesses in the Park. 65% of the
owners responded to the survey, and 100% of the
responders wanted to see a general clean-up of the
Park. These property owners wanted to see the City
step in and address areas such as outdoor storage, lack
of required landscaping, etc. Scalze reported that the
group will meet in another month. Scalze also reported
that there are people interested in volunteering and
assisting the City in the increased code enforcement.
The Administrator also reported that as a result of the
meeting, he has talked to the sheriff about overall
traffic, and staff will be doing an evaluation of
posting all the streets within Ryan Industrial Park as
no parking. The City Administrator agreed that City
staff needed to become more proactive in the area of
code enforcement and develop a better code enforcement
program. The Administrator indicated that staff needs
to know it has the backing of the Council on this
matter.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the followinq resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 92-6-216 - DIRECTING CITY STAFF TO
DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A MORE PRO-ACTIVE CODE
ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM IN RESPONSE TO THE REQUESTS OF THE
SUBURBAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS WELL AS THE RYAN
INDUSTRIAL PARK BUSINESSMEN'S ASSOCIATION AND THE CITY
COUNCIL, AND DIRECTING CITY STAFF TO EVALUATE THE
POSTING OF THE STREETS WITHIN RYAN INDUSTRIAL PARK AS
NO PARKING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Hanson.
Ayes (4) Scalze, Hanson, Collova, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Page 13
